Read on to find out what we've been learning in 5/6M this week.

It has been another energetic week full of learning in our class. The students have been practising some of our key skills from English lessons (pictured) ahead of their first independent write of the term.

In Maths, we have been consolidating place value, including rounding numbers and partitioning. Our Science lessons have developed our understanding of how our body reacts to exercise. Following on from studying the different parts of the circulatory system, we have conducted experiments to find out how different types of exercise affect our heart rate.

In History, we have continued our study of Baghdad and the rise of the Islamic Empire. We have discovered more information about why the city was so significant to the region at the time, including the prominence of the Tigris River. Our Geography lessons have bolstered our understanding of the hemispheres, as well as how we can locate locations using coordinates.

In RE, we have studied how Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are important parts of a Jewish person's life. PSHE has allowed us to develop our understanding of refugees and asylum seekers, while comparing and contrasting their lives to ours. Mr Watson has been continuing to teach the children tag rugby in PE and in Spanish we have begun to learn how to explain what the weather is like.
