Summer 2 Week 3

Maths
In Maths, we explored adding and subtracting 1s, 10s and 100s. Pupils practised using place value knowledge to understand how numbers change when we add or subtract different amounts. They used number lines, practical resources and mental strategies to support their calculations and were encouraged to explain their reasoning.

✏️ English
In English, we continued to develop our skills in spelling, handwriting and comprehension. Pupils practised forming letters correctly and applied their phonics knowledge to spelling tasks. Using a Father’s Day theme, we explored sentence building through colourful semantics, supporting pupils in structuring sentences using who, what and where. This helped pupils to write more complete and meaningful sentences with increasing independence and confidence.

🌍 Geography
In Geography, we used a checklist to identify features within the school grounds. Pupils explored the outdoor environment and identified both human and physical features, such as buildings, playground equipment and green spaces. This supported their understanding of how we classify and describe different environments.

🕰️ History
In History, we continued our work on life during the Victorian period, focusing on the divide between rich and poor. Pupils learnt about differences in housing, schooling and daily life, helping them to understand how experiences varied depending on wealth and social status.

🔬 Science
In Science, we continued our topic on weather in the UK by exploring air masses and where they come from. Pupils began to understand how air masses influence weather patterns, including temperature and rainfall, and discussed how this links to the different types of weather we experience.
