Summer 1 Week 4
➗ Maths
In Maths, we explored turns and how to describe them. The children learnt to identify and describe different types of turns, including whole, half, quarter and three-quarter turns. They used practical activities and movement to physically demonstrate turns, helping to build their understanding. The children also practised using mathematical language such as clockwise and anti-clockwise to explain their ideas.
✏️ English
In English, we have continued to explore spelling, punctuation and grammar, with a particular focus on adjectives used for comparison. The children learnt how to use comparative and superlative adjectives to describe and compare people, objects and settings. They practised applying these within sentences to make their writing more detailed and engaging.
🌍 Geography
In Geography, we continued our work on earthquakes. The children learnt about how earthquakes occur, exploring tectonic plates and how movement beneath the Earth’s surface can cause shaking. They also looked at the impact of earthquakes on people and the environment, and discussed ways communities can stay safe.

🕰️ History
In History, we explored the use of coal and iron and their importance during the Industrial Revolution. The children learnt how these materials were used to power machines, build railways and support new industries. They began to understand how these developments changed people’s lives and contributed to the growth of towns and cities.
