Autumn 2 Week 1
It has been a busy and productive week, with students actively engaging in a variety of activities within the Aspire Suite.
In Mathematics, the pupils successfully completed their topic on addition and subtraction. They have been working diligently on finding missing numbers, comparing number sentences, and confidently subtracting two-digit numbers. Their efforts have been commendable, and it is encouraging to see their mathematical skills developing.
Our English lessons have seen a focused exploration of sentence components through the use of PIXL therapies. The pupils have also had the opportunity to create a piece of writing inspired by a Pobble prompt, centred on the theme of fireworks. This blend of structured learning and creative expression has fostered a deeper understanding of written language.

In History, we commenced our topic on the French Revolution, where pupils delved into the lives of the French population before the Revolution. They learnt about the three distinct estates and examined the contrasts that existed within society during this period. This exploration has sparked interesting discussions amongst the students about historical context and significance.
Geography lessons have turned our attention to mountains. Pupils have begun labelling their various features and investigating how these magnificent natural formations are created. This topic is particularly engaging, as the students apply their knowledge to understand the world around them.

In Science, we introduced our materials topic, prompting pupils to identify and explore the properties of various materials found in everyday objects. By examining these features, students have developed critical observational skills, which are essential for scientific understanding.
Furthermore, we set aside time for a meaningful discussion regarding Bonfire Night, emphasising the importance of safety during this festive period. It is vital that our pupils understand not only the historical significance of events but also the responsibilities that come with them.
