Week 5, 6, 7

The pupils have been fully engaged in a range of lessons and activities designed to cater to their diverse learning needs and interests.

In Mathematics, we have been focusing on addition and subtraction, participating in various activities that help solidify these essential concepts. The students have utilised a range of resources to effectively understand how to add and subtract, particularly in the context of worded problems. This hands-on approach has proved beneficial in enhancing their problem-solving skills and confidence in mathematics.

Moving on to our English curriculum, we have continued to employ Pobble, a platform that facilitates creativity and engagement in writing. Pupils were encouraged to explore topics of personal interest, such as LEGO and Mr Bean, which has allowed them to express their ideas more freely and develop their writing skills in a meaningful way.

Our History lessons have taken us on an enlightening journey along the Silk Road, examining its significance in relation to the history of Baghdad. The students have explored its role in trade and the cultural exchanges it facilitated, providing a rich context for their learning and a greater appreciation of historical trade routes.

In Geography, we undertook an activity which involved slicing potatoes into various thicknesses to illustrate different elevations. Using a rule and pen, students can effectively visualise how contour lines are created on a map, representing different heights and landforms. This practical demonstration serves as a concrete representation of abstract geographical concepts, enabling students to grasp the relevance of contour lines in real-world applications.

In Science, our current unit has revolved around blood cells and their construction. The students have demonstrated remarkable curiosity and engagement, which has led to in-depth discussions and enquiries into the functions of these vital components of the human body. Furthermore, as the half-term draws to a close, we have reflected on our learning through Multiple Choice Quizzes, allowing the pupils to consolidate their knowledge.

Additionally, we have integrated Pol-Ed activities into our schedule, providing students with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape safely. Emphasising online safety is essential in today’s digital age, and I encourage you to continue these conversations at home to reinforce the importance of responsible internet use.
