Week 4
Another exciting week in our classroom, led by Mrs Fox, Mrs Mullin, Mrs Powell, and Mrs Theodorou. As always, we have been busy engaging with our jam-packed curriculum, filled with stimulating activities designed to enrich our pupils’ learning experiences.
In Mathematics, our pupils have been diligently exploring counting in threes, number bonds, and fact families. These foundational concepts not only support their current learning but also lay the groundwork for more complex mathematical understanding in the future. It has been heartening to see their enthusiasm for these topics.
Meanwhile, in English, we delved into the intriguing world of storytelling. The children were particularly captivated by the character of the mouse and the motivation behind its theft from the kitchen. Furthermore, we engaged in an imaginative exercise where pupils envisioned a hotel in the sky, employing persuasive vocabulary to entice potential guests to check in. We continue to utilise Pobble as a stimulating resource, which significantly aids in igniting our students’ creativity.
Our History lessons have taken us on a fascinating journey to the House of Wisdom in Baghdad, where we explored its profound significance as a centre of knowledge and learning in the past. The pupils displayed great curiosity and were eager to uncover the rich history contained within these lessons.
In Geography, we have been learning to interpret scales on maps to ascertain distances accurately. This essential skill not only enhances their geographical understanding but also equips them with practical tools for real-world applications.
Our Science unit has introduced an investigation into heart rates and the effects of exercise on this vital sign. Pupils have started to grasp the key components of conducting a fair test and have begun recording their results with great care. It has been rewarding to witness their analytical skills develop during this hands-on exploration.
As we continue to navigate this engaging curriculum, we encourage you to converse with your child about their learning experiences during the week. Such discussions can significantly enhance their retention of knowledge and spark further interest in these subjects.
