In Maths, we have been continuing our learning on place value, where we have focused on rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, learning the rules of rounding up or down.

In Art, we decorated our own feathers as part of a project.

In PSHE, we looked at a letter from Sam, who had never been to school. We discussed why he might be scared to start, the responsible actions and choices we could make to help him and how he might feel once he is settled in. Pupils come up with ideas about our school values, such as diversity and celebrating everyone's differences. Pupils also shared how they would respect him and look after his wellbeing, as well as getting to know him and show him around the school. Pupils came up with amazing ideas and there were really lovely discussions.

In Geography, we looked at Kings Lynn and San Francisco and compared physical features, where we identified Kings Lynn was flat, and San Francisco is built more on hills. We also compared the temperature and rainfall using graphs to support this. We identified peninsulas, the strait and a bay.

In Science, we looked at how the brain and mouth start the digestive process. We also look at the importance of our teeth and the type of teeth that we have in our mouths. We looked at the different roles of the different types of teeth.

In History, we looked at the Iron Age and how they lived, the jobs they had, the food they ate and what they enjoyed doing. We looked at the timing of the Iron Age being around 800 BCE.

In English, we continued with our sentence stacking lessons, where pupils used adjectives to describe the pigs' eyes and frown. The children also used feelings to describe how the wolf was feeling, knocking on the last pig's door. Children also used thesauruses to find synonyms for said and created dialogue where the pig was feisty and had an angry reply.

In Maths, we have continued with our place value learning, where pupils have looked at comparing numbers using key vocabulary such as greater than, less than and equal to. They also have ordered numbers in ascending and descending order, identifying the meaning of both words.

In Art, we have been printing our flowers, using ink paint.

In R. E, we continued with our learning on Sikhism, where pupils looked and learnt about the 5K's and linked these to wearing a school uniform. Pupils worked in groups to match the images to the definition of each of the 5 K's.

In PSHE, we looked at rights and responsibilities, where we discussed a scenario and discussed the responsible, irresponsible choices, the rewards and consequences of the actions taken.

Another busy week in 3/4M with lots of learning taking place.

In History, we looked at the Stonehenge monument where pupils discovered what it was used for, the types of stones that it was created from and the history behind it. Pupils had to draw their own picture of Stonehenge and label the different stones.

In English, we have been continuing with our sentence stacking lessons based on 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs'. This week we have focused on creating sentences with similes, using adverbial phrases, adjectives, complex sentences and onomatopoeia.

In Maths, we have been focussing on using concrete resources to help us understand the concept of 1, 10, 100 or 1000 more or less. We have also worked on our arithmetic skills.

In Maths, we have been continuing our learning with place. This week we have looked at representing numbers to 1000 and 10,000, partitioning numbers and discussing various problems relating to these areas. We have used the concept of thinking about the problem, preparing what we are going to say using our whiteboards, discussing and then sharing our thoughts.

In Science, we looked at involuntary muscles being the muscles that we cannot control, including our heart. We also looked at voluntary muscles, the muscles that we can control. Pupils had to write about what a voluntary and involuntary muscle was and then organise the muscles into either voluntary or involuntary.

In Geography, we looked at what a compass was and how these are used to support navigation. Pupils had to label a compass with all 8 points.

In English, we have been continuing our sentence stacking lessons where we have looked at what the wolf's inner thoughts might be when he realises that he has no sugar. Pupils have had to use complex sentences to show how the wolf was walking to the straw house and repetition in sentences for effect.

In R.E, we have started our learning on the following enquiry question: Does joining the Khalsa make someone a better Sikh?  The pupils discussed clubs they belong to and what it feels like to belong to a group/community. Pupils discussed what they had to do to be part of their chosen club, how they have a sense of belonging and the feelings they felt throughout, such as; proud, happy, excited, respected. Pupils had the opportunity to watch a video where a child went to a martial arts club and shared the feelings she felt before joining and when she had joined. As well as this, the child shared how they represent their club, the uniform they wear and how they feel wearing the uniform.

We have had a busy week back at school.

In Art, pupils learnt about lines and sketches. The pupils had opportunities to use different thickness pencils and create sketches using different lines. Pupils learnt the importance of lines and how they create sketches as well as how these can be created in a range of materials.

In Maths, we have started our unit of learning on place value, recognising the value of digits in numbers and using a place value chart alongside place counters and Base 10.

In English, we have started our unit of writing on 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs'. In our first lesson, the pupils had to work together in a group to come up with questions to ask the wolf. They wanted to know what had happened, how come the houses had fallen down. The wolf responded with it was an accident, and he had a terrible, powerful sneeze. As we continued with the learning, pupils have created some wonderful sentences where they have used feelings, complex sentences, adjectives, time/place adverbials and have had to remember basic punctuation (capital letters and full stops).
