    We have continued writing our newspaper report based on the Wizard Of Once. This lesson we focused on alliteration, quotes and other features.

    In P.E, children have continued working on their dancing and have also participated in Dodgeball, where they have completed different passes and played a dodgeball game in groups.

    In Maths, Year 4 looked at adding 1s, 10s and 100s to numbers with up to four digits. 

    In Science, pupils looked at the different teeth, the importance of cleaning teeth and the impact this can have on teeth if not done correctly. Pupils looked at how the brain and the mouth start the digestive process and explained this in their books.

  • Week Commencing 14th October

    In History, pupils have continued with their learning about Ancient Greece where they looked at Alexander the Great, his personality and why he is a famous part of history.

    In Science, pupils wrote about the nervous system, digestive system and skeletal system. Pupils explained why we have these systems and what each one of them does.

    In Geography, pupils looked how the local area has changed over time, looking at the fact that there are now more houses, more transport and the population has also increased.

  • Week Commencing 4th November

    In English, we have started looking at newspaper reports, learning the skills that are needed for writing a report. Pupils worked in groups to find the shapes in the newspaper report from Jane Considine writing units. This unit focusses on the book Wizard of Once.

    In Science, we started our new science unit based on classification, where pupils looked at understanding that we can classify animals and plants.

    In History, we continued our learning about Ancient Greece. Pupils looked at different philosophers in Ancient Greece where they drew a picture, found out their relationship to other philosophers and what they believed in.

    In Science, we are looking at classification. This week, children looked at fish and amphibians where they had to identify the features. 

    In Maths, year 3 pupils were looking at addition and subtraction with exchanging.
    In English, pupils have continued their sentence stacking lessons focused on newspaper reporting.

  • Week Commencing 21/10/24

    This week, we have had our PSHE and RE days.  We have also been focusing on our English, where we have edited and rewritten our story based on The Iron Woman.

    In R. E, we have been looking at Buddhism, where the children have been learning about the story of Buddha. They retold the story of Buddha, decided which part of the story they thought was the most important and discussed whether it is possible for everyone to be happy. They have also discussed key messages from the story and the importance of speaking politely to others and how it makes people feel, as well as understanding that what people say is also important.

    In PSHE, we have been looking at the unit Being Me in My World. Children have looked at becoming a class team, being school citizens, their rights, responsibilities and also democracy and how that is shown in school. Children have also looked at rewards and consequences, where they have discussed feelings associated with either getting rewards or consequences. They also look at how groups come together to make decisions and understand why having a voice and how democracy benefits the school community.
