Summer 2 Week 3

Maths
In Maths, we explored place value and practised reading, recognising and writing numbers up to 100. Pupils used resources such as number lines and place value charts to support their understanding of tens and ones. They were encouraged to explain their thinking and compare numbers using greater than, less than and equal to, helping to build a secure foundation in number.

✏️ English
In English, we continued to develop our skills in spelling, handwriting and comprehension. Pupils practised forming letters correctly and applied their phonics knowledge to spelling tasks. Using a Father’s Day theme, we explored sentence building through colourful semantics, which supported pupils in structuring sentences using who, what and where. This helped pupils to write more complete and meaningful sentences with increasing independence.

🌍 Geography
In Geography, we explored the Indus and Ganges rivers and their importance. Pupils learnt where these rivers are located and discussed how they support people through farming, water supply and transport. We also touched on their cultural and historical importance, helping pupils to understand why rivers are significant to communities.

🕰️ History
In History, we were introduced to Richard III and his battle to gain the throne. Pupils began to learn about the Wars of the Roses and the struggle for power during this time. We discussed how events from the past can influence the way a country is led, helping pupils to develop an early understanding of monarchy and leadership.

🔬 Science
In Science, we continued our learning about forces by exploring magnets. Pupils investigated how magnets can push and pull without touching and tested which materials are magnetic. They explored how magnets attract and repel each other and linked this to the idea of forces in everyday life, building on their understanding of pushes and pulls.
