Summer 2 Week 2

Maths
In Maths, we completed PIXL assessments in both arithmetic and reasoning. These provided pupils with the opportunity to demonstrate their fluency in calculations as well as their ability to apply mathematical skills to a range of problem-solving questions. Pupils were encouraged to work methodically, check their answers carefully and select efficient strategies to support their thinking.

✏️ English
In English, we completed the PIXL assessments for reading and grammar, punctuation and spelling. These assessments enabled pupils to demonstrate their understanding of a variety of texts, alongside their knowledge of key spelling patterns, punctuation rules and sentence structure. Pupils approached the assessments with increasing independence and focus.

🌍 Geography
In Geography, we explored the role of a cartographer and discussed how maps are created and used. Pupils then applied this knowledge to create their own maps of the school grounds, thinking carefully about key features, layout and how to represent these clearly.

🕰️ History
In History, we explored what life was like for both the rich and the poor in Victorian society. Pupils compared living conditions, daily routines and opportunities, developing an understanding of how experiences differed greatly depending on wealth and social class.

🔬 Science
In Science, we explored the Earth’s ozone layer and its importance in protecting the planet. Pupils discussed how human actions can impact the ozone layer and began to develop an awareness of environmental responsibility and the importance of protecting our world.
