Summer 2 Week 1
➗ Maths
In Maths, we completed both arithmetic and reasoning papers, allowing pupils to practise a range of calculation strategies and apply their problem-solving skills. There was a strong focus on checking answers carefully, using efficient methods and explaining reasoning where appropriate. Alongside this, pupils completed their work on partitioning numbers to 1,000, developing their understanding of place value and how numbers can be broken down into hundreds, tens and ones.
✏️ English
In English, pupils continued to build on their spelling knowledge through weekly spelling activities, focusing on key patterns and common exception words. We also worked on reading comprehension, where pupils practised retrieving information and developing their understanding of texts. In addition, pupils developed their sentence construction skills by ordering sentences correctly, supporting their understanding of grammar, punctuation and how sentences link together to form meaningful ideas.
🌍 Geography
In Geography, we explored King’s Lynn and its key features. Pupils looked at images of different locations within the town and practised identifying and naming them. This helped to develop their knowledge of the local area and supported their understanding of how different places are used within their community.

🕰️ History
In History, we continued our learning about the British Empire, with a particular focus on Queen Victoria. Pupils explored some of the important decisions she made during her reign and began to understand how these influenced Britain at the time. Discussions supported pupils in developing a basic understanding of how individuals can shape history.

🔬 Science
In Science, we were introduced to meteorology and began learning about the ozone layer. Pupils explored the role of the ozone layer in protecting the Earth and discussed how human actions can have an impact on the environment. This provided an introductory understanding of environmental awareness and scientific responsibility.
