Summer 1 Week 3

➗ Maths

This week in Maths, the children have been developing their number knowledge by counting confidently from 1 to 100. They have also been exploring how numbers can be partitioned into tens and ones, helping them to better understand place value and how numbers are made.

✏️ English

In English, we have focused on spelling and grammar, with a particular emphasis on recognising and using adjectives to make our writing more descriptive and engaging. Alongside this, the children have continued to build their comprehension skills and practised spellings, while also enjoying creative writing inspired by The House in the Deep.

🌍 Geography

In Geography, we have been learning about trade and what it means to buy and sell goods. The children explored trade within Western Europe and identified different types of produce that come from a range of countries, helping them to understand where our food and goods originate.

🕰️ History

During History lessons, we have been learning about the Crusades and the role of Richard the Lionheart. The children explored key events and began to develop an understanding of why these historical events were significant.

🔬 Science

In Science, we have continued our topic on rocks and fossils. This week, the children investigated the permeability of different rocks and learnt about the role of a geologist in studying the Earth.
