Autumn 2 Week 5
Maths
This week in Maths, we began exploring money in a variety of contexts. Using concrete resources, we practised identifying change and finding amounts that were more or less than a given value. This hands-on approach helped us understand the concept of money in real-life situations.
English
In English, we used PIXL therapies to strengthen our writing skills. We focused on sentence types, fronted adverbials, and the position of main clauses within a sentence, helping us to write with greater accuracy and variety.
Geography
Our Geography lessons explored how data is used in different roles. We learned about:
- Geologists – study the Earth's structure
- Seismologists – study earthquakes
- Volcanologists – study volcanoes The children enjoyed discovering how these specialists use data to understand natural phenomena. They even asked to explore the different salaries which we felt were connected to how dangerous each role could be.

History
In History, we studied the Battle of Waterloo and examined the role of Napoleon in this significant event. The children were fascinated by the strategies and outcomes that shaped European history.

Science
Science focused on reversible and irreversible changes. Through practical examples, we explored how some changes can be undone, while others result in permanent transformations.
