Autumn 2 Week 5

Maths
This week in Maths, we revisited making 10 and moved on to exploring what makes up numbers to 20. We used concrete resources such as counters, tens grids, and Numicon to help us understand number composition in a hands-on way.

English
In English, we began using Colourful Semantics to create sentences about ourselves. The children even made their own colourful semantics cards, which they can use in future lessons to support sentence construction.

Geography
Our Geography lessons focused on town planning. We learnt about what goes into designing a town and how its layout makes it work. The children enjoyed creating their own towns through a fun cutting and sticking activity.

History
History was all about Ancient Egypt! We had an exciting lesson where we wrote our names in Hieroglyphics. It was a challenging but enjoyable activity that gave us a glimpse into this fascinating writing system.

Science
In Science, we explored the life cycles of animals. We described the different stages of a frog’s life cycle and watched videos showing the metamorphosis of a butterfly, which really brought the concept to life.
