Find out what we've been learning in 5/6M this week.

This week in 5/6M we have been working on writing our own independent narrative story. The children have been using their knowledge of key skills, including fronted adverbials and relative clauses, to improve their work.

In Maths, we have been working on negative numbers and applying them to real-life situations. In Science, we wrote conclusions to our experiment involving heart rate. We applied our knowledge of new vocabulary, including control variable, dependent variable and independent variable.

During the guided reading, we focussed on poetry and the different ways poets can tell stories using a range of techniques. In History, we have been learning about the House of Wisdom in Baghdad and how it attracted people from around the world. Our Geography lessons involved understanding how scale maps work, including large and small-scale maps.

In Art, we have been working on modernism and abstract art - the work of Sonia Delaunay inspired us this week. In RE, we compared Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, while in Spanish we continued to understand how to talk about the weather, including locations.
