Another busy week in 3/4M with lots of learning taking place.

In History, we looked at the Stonehenge monument where pupils discovered what it was used for, the types of stones that it was created from and the history behind it. Pupils had to draw their own picture of Stonehenge and label the different stones.

In English, we have been continuing with our sentence stacking lessons based on 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs'. This week we have focused on creating sentences with similes, using adverbial phrases, adjectives, complex sentences and onomatopoeia.

In Guided reading, we have looked at retrieval questions and developed our vocabulary by finding out the word class, dictionary definition, a synonym, an antonym and writing the word in a sentence. We have been developing our skills by using dictionaries and thesauruses.

In Maths, we have been focussing on using concrete resources to help us understand the concept of 1, 10, 100 or 1000 more or less. We have also worked on our arithmetic skills.

In Geography, we looked at map scales where pupils had to then use the scale to work out the distance between 2 places on the map.

In R.E, we continued our learning of Sikhism and developed our knowledge of the Amrit Ceremony and the Guru who created the first celebration and what this celebration entailed.
